Just like a computer disk -teacher's can only hold so much information, and even so...there will always be a consistent stream of new information to add or replace the knowledge we already contain.
I didn't realize how much research had to go into teaching. There are always new stats and regulations concerning teaching methods and new teaching tools that it seems impossible to keep up with. It's not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it does make it much harder to keep up with what methods are or are not acceptable to use in the classroom.
Due to the ever changing methodologies behind teaching there is a persistent need for teachers to maintain their education through teaching workshops, and seminars specifically dedicated to their subject(s). It is mind-blowing how much research teachers/educators must do to find ways to improve learning and teaching of content in the classroom...and it is a never ending story.
