so much research!!!

Just like a computer disk -teacher's can only hold so much information, and even so...there will always be a consistent stream of new information to add or replace the knowledge we already contain.

I didn't realize how much research had to go into teaching. There are always new stats and regulations concerning teaching methods and new teaching tools that it seems impossible to keep up with. It's not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it does make it much harder to keep up with what methods are or are not acceptable to use in the classroom. Due to the ever changing methodologies behind teaching there is a persistent need for teachers to maintain their education through teaching workshops, and seminars specifically dedicated to their subject(s). It is mind-blowing how much research teachers/educators must do to find ways to improve learning and teaching of content in the classroom...and it is a never ending story.

Is there still room for books?

With the way that technology keeps advancing...will books be needed much longer?

So, I know that technology is something that is constantly being improved upon, and that it is slowly taking over areas in education today. I think that this improvement is a good thing, but when will technology take over? It seems that every time we turn around there is something new that is being mass produced to make life simpler than what it already is. Hasn't anyone noticed that it seems like the harder we try to make life easier we actually make it harder in some way, shape, or form? I think that in the classroom that technology is relevant but I also believe that textbooks and other literary or educational resources should be used. Not everything on the web, or on a computer is 100% reliable, and therefore other resources should also be sought to gain information. What's wrong with a little bit of book browsing? Is there still room for books? Simplicity in the educational realm is something that should be sustained so that our students have the ability to acquire information about the world in various ways that are suitable to their individual learning styles.

As complicated as modern technology is at times it has helped to make many educational improvements in schools today.

Technology is the ever changing and ever expanding field that concerns creating new and innovative ways of carrying out given tasks through the use of new and improved items, tools etc.

Without modern technology, teaching would be...different...yep. In almost every classroom -if not all- there is some form of technology lurking in a desk drawer, on a cart with wheels, or hanging from a wall or ceiling. We use technology more than ever in teaching today. Grades are electronically calculated, papers are submitted by e-mail, there's online tutoring....technology is everywhere in teaching society! However, I think that it is important to keep the manual and old fashioned ways of calculating grades, revising papers etc. stored in the mind as well. I also think that manual labor in teaching should still be practiced probably a lot more in comparison to what it is like now. Students need to know how to properly read, write, solve a math problem, and use books as references! These things should not be overlooked or replaced just because there is technology out there to do so. Such skills will always be needed in some way, shape, or form. As a teacher I will be sure to implement a rule or rules that make it to where my students will learn how to both use manual and technological means to acquire information.
