I chose a table of contents picture because by the time I graduate from college and have been given a job in a school district I will have a lot of different sections of knowledge in my repertoire as a new teacher.
I have a basic knowledge of both the subject matter within the school curriculum and a deeper understanding of what I specifically choose to teach (which may be outside the curriculum, but connect with it).
In having such a connection with the content that I choose to teach my students I ensure that they will gain the ability to make such connections themselves through watching me. As my students watch me and learn they will also be able to listen to me as I teach them everything they need to know about whatever subject I am teaching at the time. The deeper my understanding of the content is the more my students will get out of our in-class discussions, notes, activities etc. that we go over.
As the saying goes, "The more ya know the more ya grow!"
