As complicated as modern technology is at times it has helped to make many educational improvements in schools today.
Technology is the ever changing and ever expanding field that concerns creating new and innovative ways of carrying out given tasks through the use of new and improved items, tools etc.
Without modern technology, teaching would be...different...yep. In almost every classroom -if not all- there is some form of technology lurking in a desk drawer, on a cart with wheels, or hanging from a wall or ceiling. We use technology more than ever in teaching today. Grades are electronically calculated, papers are submitted by e-mail, there's online tutoring....technology is everywhere in teaching society!
However, I think that it is important to keep the manual and old fashioned ways of calculating grades, revising papers etc. stored in the mind as well. I also think that manual labor in teaching should still be practiced probably a lot more in comparison to what it is like now. Students need to know how to properly read, write, solve a math problem, and use books as references! These things should not be overlooked or replaced just because there is technology out there to do so. Such skills will always be needed in some way, shape, or form.
As a teacher I will be sure to implement a rule or rules that make it to where my students will learn how to both use manual and technological means to acquire information.
